The gas prices in the USA have to go up simply because they're going up all over the world. I don't think there's anything the president could do to change that. Besides, here in Europe gas prices are about $10 per gallon and we are used to that already. The prices in USA simply cannot stay so ridiculously low forever.

Well he tried to steal a whole heap of cheap gas and people grizzled about that too - calling him a war-monger and everything. He can't win no matter what he does! ;P (I'm not trying to be accurate here, I'm just stirring. Feel free to educate me!)

I'm not sure that George knows what to do about this one. I think he may have backed himself into a corner with no escape. I think that Bush may care--but I don't seem to be able to see him envisioning himself as one of the 'common people" and he doesn't seem to understand that people don't have endless money to buy gas. just because he does. I think that may be one of the big flaws in his character is that he can't see beyond himself: he has no feel for what his 'audience thinks or responds": he can't envision himself as one of the working masses:)
