  • Florida Keys, like in Key largo( at the beginning of the chain , Key West....the last key and only 60 miles from Cuba. I dont know what the context is, I live close to the Keys and dont know of a place called Kokomo but Im willing to bet some bar down there will soon be named that!

  • "key" is an alternative spelling of "quay", which has now fallen out of common usage. It was in common use around the time the eastern side of the americas were settled, though, so the name's probably just a historical quirk.
  • The word is Florida Keys, as the Americans do not use the Franglish spelling "quays". It is, however, the same word. The Florida Keys are an archipelago of about 1700 islands in the southeast United States, off Florida.
