Stop by your local health food store and get some herbs to help you sleep... Valarian... Passion Flower... Chamomile... Any of these will slow your mind down, allow you to sleep, and you'll wake up refreshed without any side effects at all... sometimes these herbs are pratically essential, as in situations like yours...! ;-)

In addition to Valarian, passion flower, and Chamomile, lavender can help a lot. If you put a few drops of the essential oil on your pillow case before you sleep, just the smell of it can help you sleep. With the nightmares, it's possible something more is at work. Is there an abnormal stressful situation you're trying to deal with? Or any fears or worries you think may be realized? Often, if you address the situation in real life, the nightmares can go away. Otherwise, I've heard dream catchers work, to an extent. They don't prevent them altogether, but they can help prevent the severity of the nightmares. Or, you may be like me and have a little quirk... If I start having nightmares, I need to sleep with music on every night, the entire night. The second it turns off, I start having a nightmare again. With how bloody/gory mine are, it's the last thing I want to happen... I usually see people I'm close to being torn apart and things like that.
