  • It would hurt no one and have no victims.
  • In theory, it would jeopardize insecure marriages, the ones who are always comparing their success to the success of others. The "keeping up with the jones's" thing. Because, in theory, a gay marriage sounds easier. No griping over leaving up the toilet seat, no arguments over how to redecorate, etc. That's the only real take that I can see on the subject. Without getting into the whole religious "God will smite thee for allowing Bert and Ernie to be seen on Sesame Street" thing. Very boring.
  • There is no logical reason. And the only political reasons are the ones that tie into the religious reasons.
  • I can't think of anyone!
  • they've legalized it over here in the UK, its called a civil ceremony. it doesn't seem to have caused any problems, just hilarious headlines. there was some local posh bloke who owns a castle and he kicked up a stink cos 2 gay blokes tried to hire it to get married, the newspaper article was hilarious, so the only downside is more crappy tabloids.
  • It would destroy, oh, no religious arguements. What about the children, oh adoption. The financial burden on healthcare, oh it would actually save money. Oh! all of the best reception halls would be taken! There is no reason.
  • I think it could be disastrous to the human race. Before you know it, everybody will want a gay marriage and then nobody will be making babies. The end is coming….and coming…and coming…..
  • I'm not sure that it would hurt anyone persay. From a religious stand point, based upon the bibles words, it would hurt God. Because of Gods original intent for us and the way we were designed and given life by him. So therefore some would say it would hurt people who believe in the bible. However, those need to also remember the bible also teaches that we should treat everyone equally and with love. The decisions people make are between them and God. Its really none of our business what people do and we shouldn't treat them with hatred even if we don't agree. Also it could have an affect on children living in that environment. They could be confused. And children (even though wrong) could treat them differently and/or tease them because of the situation. That's really all I can think of.
  • It would destroy the principles upon which the country was founded, and in so doing destroy the country.
  • Universally? Other species would just laugh at us and our stupid rules...................
  • who would it really hurt - NOBOY who would be the victims - NOBODY The same love and war that are prevalent in man/woman marriages will be applicable here.
  • I think it is because of tax break reasons. If anyone can just get married for a tax break, they just might. Other than that I can't think of anything that it would hurt!
  • I don't think there are logical or political reasons. It boils down to the unpleasant version of morality that modern religion promotes, and which has seeped into the political fabric of society.
  • I think that it would make my marriage means less if it isn't just something special between a man and a woman.
  • the people who say its a special thing between a man and a woman are full of bull shit. i don't know how many men and woman who just jump in to marriage for the wrong reasons and just bad to each other and don't care about each other , aren’t loving and just shouldn't be married. the show total disregard for what is special about a marriage. (being with some one you love, staying by them, there vows and all that jazz) i don't care who you are or what sex you are as long as you honor what marriage is about, then you have to right to enter in to one.
  • The authoritarian governments of countries where straight males are regarded superioir to everyone else. i.e. the Middle East
  • It wouldn't hurt anybody and there would be no victims. The self-righteous and misguided religious types would be the only agrived ones - by their own ignorance if nothing else
  • It is the right wing conservatives who want to make our laws, God's Law, who are blocking it. They say that being gay is a sin. The reason is religious being hidden behind political. I say that everyone should get out of everyone elses bedroom and let people be gay if they want to! Even if it is a sin (which I don't think it is), why would other people care, it's not their soul!
