it hurts other peoples feelings...
-
I don't know that it's inappropriate, but it smacks of the need for attention.

Unless the answer is used to continue the question (some ABers run out of space, due to the complexity of the question) or your answer will give a better clue to what you are looking for (i.e. the first of multiple answers) there is no reason to ask a question if you already know the answer.
-
I have no idea, why people get offended, a lot of times, everyone wants to know what you think. I do it anyways, if they dont like it, too bad, so sad!!!
-
Because of the following question: why ask a question if you already know the answer?
-
I do not see a thing wrong with it. I have seen staff member do this myself and it seems to be alright with them so it is alright with me. Some members on here think they are here to police the site and will let their mouths overload their authority. unless they are an AB CL or Staff member I would not let what others say get to me if I were you.

it isn't always. Sometimes it's okay to express your own opinion on the question you are asking, but sometimes it is done in such a way as to seem that the askers opinion is ingraved in stone and there is no room for differing opinions. Sometimes it's as if it is posted simply to start an argument. I think it's fine for a questioner to post an opinion as an addition to the opinions of others, but not as the only possible opinion.
-
Itsnot. I'm sure many have opinions on the questions they ask and that's always good to hear yo...

It really depends on why you are doing it. If you ask a question, a specific question and then give the correct answer yourself, people see that as useless and fake, like you are just after points and attention. But if you are asking a question that might need more explanation or for where you could be just one more of the funny answers, that might be okay.

It is not generally inappropriate. It could be inappropriate in some particular cases, but if you follow some simples rules, nobody should be annoyed by this: - in some cases, it could be tolerated to post an answer to bring your answer a the top of the list, but please don't use it often, it is generally not very well seen. - if you post an answer to your question just after you have posted your question, no one will say that you want to push your question at the top of the list. - you could also post some supplementary information in the form of an answer. - never present your own answer as the only right, ultimative answer (even by riddles) Similar questions have already been asked: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/23052 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/586503 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/120013 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/545420

I do it sometimes, mainly if I want to share my own experience while others are giving theirs. Some members will think the questioner is just after the points, but often that isn't the case.
-
I don't think it's inapropriate...
-
I don't think you should .... If you have an opinion to express, you can find someone else's similar question to answer. This is Answerbag... not "state your opinion" bag. But I'd never dr someone who did it once in a while.
-
I do not see it as inappropriate. I see it as a way to interact with others and share ideas, thoughts and opinions.
