  • I'm usually brutally honest with myself. The problem is when I refuse to listen or am too distracted by delightfully destructive behavior that focuses more on living in the moment than the later consequences. It is easy to see how people delude themselves.
  • Most of us "spin" the truth to make ourselves look good..we justify how we act and what we do..we may think we're being totally honest, but in fact there is no way of knowing whether we are or not..we are driven by self-interest and being "right" and being "better than". Just my opinion, of course. :) You can try to be honest with yourself, but if you are the judge the lens through which you view yourself could be distorted.
  • If I am to be honest with myself on this, I would have to say..no, not completely. Most people tend to justify themselves and things they do, not all of the time, but sometimes. And just because someone has no problem admitting to being wrong, does not mean that they like doing it..even if they are admitting it to themselves. I have heard that you can fool others but you can't fool yourself, I don't think that is entirely true. How to avoid it? I'm not really sure, I am only aware of it when I realize I am doing it.
  • Nope! I listen to the deluded twit all the time! Honest!
  • i am not so honest with myself. I fool myself into thing the unimportant things are more important than the really important things. i would rather be on this site than tending to important chores. i can do the chores later...true. But what is the limit for later.
  • Usually the closest I ever get to truth is self doubt. But I guess I just doubted myself just now in a way so whatever.
  • Yeah, I'm pretty honest with myself. And if I'm not, I have my brother to knock some sense into me, whether that be literally or figuratively.
