No be polite, do not reach for your credentials until he or she gets to your door. Follow his instructions and hope for the best. Believe me they have heard it all, if you are nice more than likely you will get off with a warning and most of the time you cam plead it down if you co to court to no points.

"Well, hello officer... isn't it a beautiful day to be driving? Uh-huh, and might I add that badge brings out a beautiful shimmer in your eyes." Just kidding. It should be short and to the point. Probably should apologize, not do it again, and accept the consequences for your traffic violation. Doing the above would just make you come off as an unintelligent schmoozer lol.

they say you are supposed to say (in the very beginning, before they start asking you any questions--where are u going, etc) "i do not consent" although i've always thought that sounds suspicious, i read it in an article that a local newspaper wrote -- it was an interview with a police officer. that is supposed to signal two things--you are not allowing them to search, nor can they "trap" you by asking questions in order to give them the probable cause to search, and also it shows them that you are well aware of your rights.
