  • Tell the police you found an abandoned car and give the location. You can't do anything else without the title signed over in your name.
  • We had one on our property and we called the police, they came and said we could only have it if the owner doesn't want it. It had sat there for 3 years. The cop got hold of the owner, and he didn't want it, but we didn't want it either. So the police had it towed and the owner got the bill. He said if we wanted it, the owner would have to sign the title over to us.
  • If it's not on someone's property (and that would be extremely hard to believe), call the cops... Otherwise, talk to the property owner. If it's his (or someone in his family's) car, then you may be able to get it for a song. I knew a guy that used to drive around out in the country, and find cars with long grass under them (they'd been sitting a while), in barns, etc. He's usually trade something like a radio or something (no more than $150) for decent ones, and he'd fix them up and sell them. I know of one he found, took the battery out of HIS car, put it in it, and drove it away. Of course it needed tuned and some other work, but...
  • claim it as abandoned. i think you have to wait 30 days but after that i think that you can get a title for it if no one clames it
  • If it's relatively new and in fairly good condition (only needs some tuning and small parts) I might fix it up and drive it or even sell it. The hard part is registering it, since the VIN will be under someone else's name, and there's no title of sale. Really depends on your local laws. Don't know if you're into fixing up cars, but that's what I'd do.
  • Start a Taxi service...! ;-)
  • Claim it, then very carfully look over the car and try to find the year, make, and model before selling it( if you do want to sell it) because it might be worth some serious cash, and you dont want to get ripped-off.
  • Find a title or it's usless.
