    Loreena McKennitt was born in Morden, Manitoba, Canada. This town has a very large population of Irish, Scottish, German and Icelandic descendants. It was this community culture that influenced her music choice. Loreena's own ancestors were primarily from Ireland. However, she was not raised with what would be considered a Celtic culture in her own home.
