  • As I don't know your opinion, I couldn't tell. For me, the Confederate flag would surely be not the right symbol.
  • i don't think it would be the best idea, some people might get offended or get the wrong idea about you. and do you really want to explain why its your avatar every time theres a issue raised about it? pick something that represents AL specifically...
  • i find it offensive...
  • I was born in Georgia and I don't think it is offensive. I see how people think it is offensive, but I don't see it as that. If you are proud of your heritage, then by all means put up the Confederate Flag. Do you mean the Confederate flag or the Confederate Battle flag? I am good with either, but please know the difference. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flags_of_the_Confederate_States_of_America#National_flags
  • It is in the flag of Alabama. You are from Alabama, and we are in a free country. I think you should do as you please but it will not please all.
  • im from england and dont understand what a confederate flag is/represents. therefore it probably wouldnt bother me
  • It would be unamerican. The confederacy was an attempt to break off from United States and become a seperate country, The Confederate States of America. I have a problem understanding why this symbol is so important over 100 years later. Do people in the South Eastern part of the US still want to become a seperate country?? This symbol says they do. I'm from the north and have a real problem with that symbol. It does not mean to me what it evidently means to you. How about a UA Crimson Tide emblem or flag? Thats AL also and is modern. Just a suggestion.
  • It was good enough for Bo and Luke Duke, they were good ol boys, it wouldn`t bother me.
  • I don't have a problem with with although why someone would want to fly the flag of a revolution that stood for slavery and was soundly defeated and unconditionally surrendered 150 years ago kind of illudes me.
  • Yes, in the sense that the flag not only symbolizes the division of this country, but has also come to represent slavery and intolerance to the general public. Ask yourself, What am I associating myself with by displaying this symbol?

Z-unit the choice is yours wether to use the confederate battle flag as an avatar but be warned there is no history like revisionist history
  • Not at all... represent yourself...! ;-)
  • I don't get a good feeling about a flag symbolizes slavery. That's my 2 cents worth and I'm sure you or anyone else is going to do what they want.
  • its wrong to have any flag really because they are products of war... but i still show pride for whatever country my heart resides in so I will fly it on the fourth of July and memorial day!
  • Have at it. Maybe I'll do the same, being born, raised, and still residing in Indiana.
  • It's ok if you belive in and feel you want to represent the views of the Confederacy, and not just because everyone else is doing it or because you're from Alabamba. Also, I'm not taking sides with the Confederates here, in fact I believe more in the Union, but the life of the average factory worker or coal miner in the Union could sometimes be almost as bad as slavery in the South. The Confederate view of life had problems in it but the Union view did also.
  • Go Go ahead and make it your avatar! Anybody who is offended is a big softy who would be offended by anything.
