only if they use a firewire connection, this can pass the signal and control data back to the HD tuner

Ours is set up that way. We put the signal from the converter box through our DVD/VCR, and then out to the TV. That way, I can watch two shows at the same time with my Picture in Picture (PIP)and tape a third show on the VCR/DVD.

DTV to analog convertor box can only convert one channel at a time to analog. You must use the DTV box to change channels.

If your asking about a TV set top box that converts digital TV signal (The NEW system we are all switching to) to operate on the older Analogue Televisions, No - They do not. The bandwidth that your TV tuner currently uses is being reserved for proprietary emergency communications after the changover next year to help with security issues. Your set top receiver will receive the digital signal and you will have to change the channel from the box's tuner/remote, not your TV. You will connect the box to your video/audio input for the best results, or get one with an RF adaptor that will broadcast a VERY SMALL RF signal over channel 3, or 4, like an VCR. This method will work fine, but is less clear generally than the direct A/V connections. Just another note on the subject...If you use a set of rabbit ears, you may not be happy with the set top arrangement. Digital TV signal is VERY directional, and a slight movement of the rabbit ears will result in total loss of the signal and picture. Digital reception is there...or it is not. You will get a perfect picture, or go read a book. An outdoor antenna will greatly help this situation, and I urge anyone that HAS to change, to do it BEFORE the changeover. Hope this helps!
