G'day T.G. Thank you for your question. Presumably it means that the glass has been strengthened so that it is less likely to break. Regards

I think it's baloney because if I drop my Corelle on my hard tile floor, it's going to shatter. Corelle is a brand of glassware and dishware. It is made of Vitrelle, a laminated tempered glass product with three layers of two types of glass. The thermally bonded layers give Corelle its strength, allowing it to be much thinner than other dinnerware. Introduced by Corning Glass Works in 1970, it is now sold by World Kitchen. Corelle is chemical resistant, durable, and lightweight: A typical Corelle dinner plate measuring 26 centimeters across weighs 355 grams.

they're prob tougher than the average dish so if you dropped it the dish would have a higher chance of not break but it's not totally indestructible of course lol did you ever see that one commercial for these plates that were break resistant and these model were showing them on the runway which they greased

It means that if you drop it in just the right spot it WON'T break, but fat chance!;-}

It doesn't mean break-proof. It means it has been treated or created a certain way as to make breaking less likely to happen in everyday activity. If you drop it from waist high onto a tile floor, it will probably break. If you drop it onto the table top from 8 inches up, it probably will not break.

"break resistant" = Good choice for those with angry spouses. :-)

I have two sets of Corelle chip-resistant plates,bowls,etc. One set I have owned for over 4 years. Not a chip in any piece. (and I have 2 teenage sons) They are really great dishes!

Means they are excellent to take in a Greek wedding!

The legal requirements for "break resistant" are much lower than "break proof". In fact, I don't think any product can claim to be break proof.
