If they bother us about rights of any kind we can turn them off- like turning off Data on Star Trek. Junk the whole make and model- like junking fords or chevys.

I agree with BobbyDias.. when things we build with our hands.. ask for freedom?.. its time to turn them off.. We have a gift.. the gift of thought.. but some of us use this gift.. for evil purposes.. which lead to "bad" actions.. it may not be bad to others.. but some people think taking over the world is pretty.. bad. "Robots" with freedom of thought.. can also make decisions that, WE as people might not agree with.. like. getting rid of people cause we're inferior lol.. but then again.. IMO.. Robots will never ever reach our level of counciousness.. there are PEOPLE who are MORE councious then you are now.. and some who are less then you are

Well technically if they were identical to humans in every way then it wouldn't really matter cuz they could pass for humans.

No way. how many times have you heard the phrase "the computers are down". a robot is a robot. its made by man, can be destroyed by man and is just plastic and metal parts. The ONLY difference between a human and a robot is one has a heart and soul, the other does not. This is what makes the difference between having and not having civil rights, for a robot.

Since they're machines they wouldn't need civil rights, but they would require a different form of rights! A machine is only good as long as long as it is still useful! They would have rights against expiration or obsilesence! You have to continue to supply replacement parts for them for a reasonable time frame and insure they get an adequate supply of power! Minumum levels of maintenance and repair would be expected! No pension rights would be needed though!
