Pullman’s Northern Lights series started with a tremendously wonderful bang and ended with a whimpering fizzle. This was due to the stark fact that he based much of his allegorical tale on Milton’s Paradise Lost yet failed to deal with the absolute need to address the issue of Satan. Milton wrapped it up beautifully – Pullman danced around Satan and simply ignored the need to incorporate him in to the series. Low marks all around for Mr. Pullman.

Harry Potter. I loved the charm of the begining of the series. That charm is what caught me, it was fresh and different from all the reality horrors of many books. I don't live my life in rose colored glasses, but it is nice to see something nice every once in a while. I get that Harry grew up, I get that the writer wanted to grow with her character. Fine, but that was not what I bought into. I bought into a charming world. I finished all the books. The last three were interesting, good even. I will not reread them, they will not become cherished favorites, they have lost all their charm and value to me.

Goosebumps! Maybe the quality of the books didn't go down, but by the time I was 12 they suddenly began to seem really dumb. Of course, I had 30 or so under my belt by then.

Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K Hamilton. It started out good, but degraded to the point of being nothing but supernatural porn. No plot, no story, just sex. Pity. It had such potential.

Not trash can worthy but I really did wish he would stay on the path and quit confusing us and just GET ON WITH IT!!! And that's the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I loved the first few books...I could jokingly say the first few dozen LOL!!!! But I just felt like he was taking up all on a ride and I just wanted to go home already.
