There are two stories of the creation of man in Genesis; one in Chapter I, and the other in Chapter II. These two accounts flatly contradict each other. Doesn't this creat a problem for true believers?

There is no contradiction. Chapter one provides an overview of the stages of creation. It also mentions man in reference to his spiritual image (God being spririt, his image is spirit). Of course it's a problem. But it's just one of many. Like Lot's daughters getting him tanked and sleeping with him. Does god condone incestuous rape? But believer have a seemingly infinite capacity for contorting logic.
