  • I live in a rural area and flies are not rare around these parts. One thing that you can get is the fly strips that the flies land on and stick too, they look tacky but it's better then getting bit by those pests. Is there any standing water anywhere in your yard? They will find water and stay there, hatch eggs, bug you. No pun intended!lol. Check your flower pots holes in the yard anything water can accumulate in. Dump out the water or fill the holes, they may help. I found this site that might help. Good luck! http://ezinearticles.com/?Eliminate-Flies---5-Surefire-Ways-To-Get-Rid-of-Flies&id=751832
  • You are going to think I'm crazy, but I swear this worked for us. We had a terrible infestation with flies in our backyard. We couldn't even sit out there without being covered with them. A friend suggested this and it worked like a charm: Get a large heavy weight, clear zip lock bag and fill it with water. Somehow, hang it from your porch, your trees, wherever you need it. We had about 5 in a 50 foot radius area. I don't know if it freaks out the flies eyes, or what, but we had substantually less flies on and around us.
  • Our old neighbors were shrimpers and they would leave shrimp juice in their yard all the time. It smelled like hell and the flies were insane. We tried the yard spray that you spray around your yard to form a barrier and that helped a little bit. We never could get them under control. The lizards, however, were very happy with the flies.
