Why would you need pockets in your Pants? Ah, unless you're American, of course. Sorry, in UK pants and what you might call your smalls, your underwear. This is no need for pockets in your underwear, really. Having pockets in your trousers is altogether more sensible. If you have trousers without pockets, then their design and purpose obviously precludes the need for carrying items such as cash. Now my kilt, for example has no pockets. It needs no pockets because I have a sporran to carry cash and keys, and a big knife stuffed down one sock in case I run out of cash, or if anyone tries making fun of me wearing a kilt. I have also found it invaluable when women want to stick their hand up my kilt to see if I am a true Scotsman. They get embarassed before I do.

Women are, quite naturally and properly, more interested in looking nice; men are more interested in getting things done efficiently, which means having both hands free and everything you need in your pockets. I stopped laughing at the size and contents of women's purses when I realized that a suit has at least nine pockets, and mine has something in every one of them!

They're for those times when you might go out not needing to carry anything around - as you're not going to be spending any money, and keys to get home are taken care of by someone you're with (or someone else is staying at home, or where you're staying you don't need keys). In such circumstances, the freedom from pockets is actually an enjoyable experience. Try it and decide for yourself.
