  • Giving more information on a forum like this is a good start. Answer your own question and everyone can read it. Contacting Yahoo, Google, and other search engines will also help. Don't contact Microsoft they already know which viruses they have put on the net.
  • I've tryed to remove it from a friends system tonight and failed. Any help would be great
  • Ok- thanks - here goes: I got a darn pop up which tells you you have a spyware threat and it offers to sell you software to fix it. Problem is it is also attached to a trojan horse virus. It starts a scan and it shows you a lot of threats and virus' and trojan horses - actually it takes some of your own software and changes the name slightly saying its a problem - just to give you quantity that it can resolve. I had to contact our IT guys and ended up having to do a strange "restore" - not a normal one and i had to also re-load all programs and down load all documents to a cd just to get this darn thing outta here. What a waste of a day. Itis associated with another "spy ad aware ' virus called Spy Sheriff.
  • I Just found this, hope it helps someone http://www.spywareremove.com/removePest_Trap_Spyware.html
  • According to Symantec this has been around for a little while. It appears to be known as "Spytrooper" unless I am misreading the notice. http://searchg.symantec.com/search?access=p&output=xml_no_dtd&sort=date%3AD%3AL%3Ad1&site=symc_en_US&ie=UTF-8&spell=1&client=symc_en_US&oe=UTF-8&proxystylesheet=symc_en_US&q=pesttrap&ip=64.222.118.208&filter=0 Wouldn't hurt to get the word out though. I searched avast for pesttrap and came up empty and spytrooper turned up nothing as well on avast.com Spybot s&d, however has updates to detect it. Which may be why I haven't had a problem with it The update info is here: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/updatehistory/2006-08-25.html Spybot's free software download is here: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/ I've been using Spybot for two years and have had very few adware/spyware problems since installing.
  • hello all, just wondering if anyone knows which site they visited or program they downloaded that installed this program on their computer? Would help people to avoid the problem instead of having to remove it... Also, would be a help to techicians so they can practice removing it in a safe environment.
  • You could also email everyone on your contact list and ask them to forward it to everyone on their contact list etc etc
