I haven't seen a battery operated rider on the market, yet. MTD makes a battery operated push mower with an 18" cut. There are also a few types of electric push movers that are powered through using an extention cord.

There is not one available.

You cannot get one in the USA. They sell them in Europe but who can afford the shipping? GE made one over 50 years ago but some gas powered lawn mower company bought the patent and wont let them be produced here in the USA. Isn't that ducky in this day and age!

One is made in Canada, called the Electric OX, it is actually a multi-purpose rider/tractor which provides more than just lawn mowing. http://www.electrictractor.com/ The only thing I don't like is that it uses deep cycle lead-acid batteries, with no option as of yet to use the newer LiFePO batteries being sold for electric bikes and carts... You get about 5 hours of run time on their deep cycle batteries though.

A company in New York makes an all electric riding lawn tractor named the Whisper Mow. I've read it can mow grass for over one and a half hours with its 42 inch deck. It looks like you simply plug it into the wall when done. Looks very well built. Their website is www.whispermow.com.
