I am no expert on this but I did read sometime ago that all Soya product are supposed to be cancer causing, how true it is I am not sure. Personally I avoid soya as much as possible, but I doubt the small amount of soy sauce used would do much harm. Bear in mind that it is also loaded with salt though.

G'day Quinn Fan, Thank you for your question. It has both good and bad aspects. It is high in fibre, protein and an excellent source of vitamin B6. It has also been linked to low incidences of heart disease. There have also been some concerns raised about the contents of some artificial soy sauces. However, the concern is about those products not soy sauce in general. Like anything, it should be eaten in moderation. I have attached sources for your reference. Only if you drink 10 pints!

No, as it is a GOOD soy product, made from fermented soy and not like most things, from just cooked or processed soy. It is high n sodium but just use it carefully or get the lite stuff.
-
I hope not I'm putting some on my rice as I write this.
-
How much of it are you using? It does have a lot of salt in it but unless you are on a salt restricted diet, I would not be concerned.
-
If that's the case, then I should be dead. I use some about every day or at least three or four times a week. I grew up loving it as I am part Oriental and they use a lot of it.

I'm sure for someone who can't have alot of sodium it might not be the best thing.. but overall, I don't think it's bad.. just high in sodium.
-
It does have a lot of soy sauce which is a concern for those with high blood pressure.
-
I would go with the low-sodium soy sauces, which are just as good, generally. If caught without the choice, soy sauce, even with the sodium, isn't that bad, unless you are prescribed a low sodium diet, and / or have high blood pressure. It does have some nutritional benefits. All soy has isoflavones that are heart healthy. There is a correlation between heavy tofu consumption and later life dementia, and the probable causative agent is believed to be the phytoestrogens (estrogen-like compounds) in soy, but there has not been a cause-effect relationship established for certain yet. And remember, that's for tofu, not for soy sauce. And the tofu consumption was HEAVY in those studies. As a man, I get skiddish around anything with estrogen-like compounds, and prefer whey or egg protein, but that's me.

Try to avoid the high sodium sauces but they aren't bad for you. They taste yummy especially if you buy the good stuff.

I wouldn't think that the salt that is in it, is very good for you
