  • Its got to be George Bush.
  • Please note: It has been pointed out to me that the following "Presidential IQ Study" is false. You can verify that it is false at the following site: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/hoaxes/presiq.htm Please take this into consideration when determining why George W. Bush is the worst president ever! =========================================== Original post: Read the following, and see if you come to the same conclusion that I did. Presidential IQ Study A report published by the Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pennsylvania, detailed its findings of a four-month study of the intelligence quotient of President George W. Bush. Since 1973, the Lovenstein Institute has published its research to the educational community on each new president, which includes the famous "IQ" report among others. There have been twelve presidents over the past 50 years, from F.D. Roosevelt to G.W. Bush, who were rated based on scholarly achievements, including writings that they produced without the aid of staff; their ability to speak with clarity; and several other psychological factors, which were then scored using the Swanson/Crain system of intelligence ranking. THE FINDINGS The study determined the following IQs of each president as accurate to within five percentage points. In order of IQ rating: 182 . . William Jefferson Clinton [D] 175 . . James Earle Carter [D] 174 . . John Fitzgerald Kennedy [D] 155 . . Richard Milhous Nixon [R] 147 . . Franklin Delano Roosevelt [D] 132 . . Harry S Truman [D] 126 . . Lyndon Baines Johnson [D] 122 . . Dwight David Eisenhower [R] 121 . . Gerald R. Ford [R] 105 . . Ronald Wilson Reagan [R] 098 . . George Herbert Walker Bush [R] 091 . . George Walker Bush [R] In order of Presidential term: Franklin Delano Roosevelt [D] 142, Harry S Truman [D] 132, Dwight David Eisenhower [R] 122, John Fitzgerald Kennedy [D] 174, Lyndon Baines Johnson [D] 126, Richard Milhous Nixon [R] 155, Gerald R. Ford [R] 121, James Earle Carter [D] 175, Ronald Wilson Reagan [R] 105 George Herbert Walker Bush [R] 98, William Jefferson Clinton [D] 182, George Walker Bush [R] 91 ANALYSIS The six Republican presidents of the past 50 years had an average IQ of 115.5, with President Nixon having the highest at 155. President George W. Bush rated the lowest of all the Republicans with an IQ of 91. The six Democratic presidents of the past 50 years had an average IQ of 156, with President Clinton having the highest IQ, at 182. President Lyndon B. Johnson was rated the lowest of all the Democrats with an IQ of 126. No president other than Carter [D] has released his actual IQ (176). Among comments made concerning the specific testing of President G. W. Bush, his low ratings are due to his apparently difficult command of the English language in public statements, his limited use of vocabulary [6,500 words for Bush versus an average of 11,000 words for other presidents], his lack of scholarly achievements other than a basic degree, and an absence of any body of work which could be studied on an intellectual basis. The complete report documents the methods and procedures used to arrive at these ratings, including depth of sentence structure and voice stress confidence analysis. "All the Presidents prior to George W. Bush had a least one book under their belt, and most had written several white papers during their education or early careers. Not so with President Bush," Dr. Lovenstein said. "He has no published works or writings, which made it more difficult to arrive at an assessment. We relied more heavily on transcripts of his unscripted public speaking." The Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pennsylvania think tank includes high caliber historians, psychiatrists, sociologists, scientists in human behavior, and psychologists. Among their ranks are Dr. Werner R. Lovenstein, world-renowned sociologist, and Professor Patricia F. Dilliams, a world-respected psychiatrist.
  • Andrew Jackson. Period. Any man with the power he had who could sit by and allow the country's own laws to be broken resulting in the violation of the rights of human beings already protected by law and allow the supreme court's own decisions to be ignored resulting in the deaths of thousands of human beings he was sworn to protect is a criminal in my eyes. He should have been put to death for what he allowed to happen. Read before you judge: http://ngeorgia.com/history/nghisttt.html
  • Bill Clinton. He reminds me of a cross between a sleazy TV preacher and a used car salesman. He signed NAFTA, lied under oath, and sold our country's soul to China. There's my research and facts.
  • George w. Bush Of course.
  • I'd have to suggest Theodore Roosevelt, for splitting the Republican Party and handing the White House to Woodrow Wilson, who was unable to keep us neutral in World War I. Though we won the war, the after-effects of our coming in on the Allied side of that war were the most cataclymically bad in history--our side's winning World War I had the direct result of Communists coming to power in Russia, Hitler coming to power in Germany, World War II, development of the atom bomb, and some Islamics becoming totalitarian anti-semites, that is, Islamo-fascists during the late 1930's. This was a common opinion in America in the postwar period, but has been forgotten since World War II.
  • Bill Clinton
  • Any president who lied under oath.
  • Personally I think it was Richard Nixon,, am VERY shocked to learn that the Bush's have such low I.Q.'s!
  • How I would so LOVE!!! to say Bush I have to go with Andrew Jackson. Andrew Jackson was the most worthless excuse for a president in history. Jackson was a poor leader and even a worse person. Jackson persecuted the Native Americans for his own gain...what he is most well known for is the trail of tears...I put Jackson in the ranks with Hitler and Stalin..
  • I say Bill Clinton, and I know the "answer police", i.e. bbumgarner is going to tell me that this isnt opinionbag, but thats my answer and if you dont like it, dont look at it.
  • Bill Clinton
  • George Herbert Walker Bush...of course. The son of a Nazi sympathizer, US Navy's youngest pilot, (named two of his planes after Barbara Bush), owner of Zapata Oil Corp. (Named a US Navy frigate after Barbara to arm militants during a CIA operation during the Bay of Pigs, ( dubbing the covert operation...Operation Zapata. Operation Zapata, eventually branched into the multi-billion dollar drug smuggling trade, boats would make drops on the oil dereks and be ferried back to the US without question from US customs officials. -as told by William Cooper.), Ties to E. Howard Hunt who was implicated in civil court as being involved as one of the shooters in the JFK assination but for some reason was never convicted criminally, former head of the CIA, former Senator, 43rd Vice President under R. Reagan, 41st President of the United States of America, Rockefeller puppit, Moussad sympathizer, Builderburger member, Warmonger operation Desert Storm, uptoose liar and father of our current dictator. "Read my Lips"...need I say more? If I do...I refer you to googlevideo.com. Type "JFK 2" in the search engine and enjoy some weird Bush stuff. Also available on infowars.com. Note; Some of the scenes and accusations may be disturbing, watch with an open mind.
  • GEORGE BUSH BY FAR. my facts dear bbumgarner: THE LAST 6 YEARS :) need I say more? 911? Katrina? Iraq? I'm done.
  • Worst 18th century President -- John Adams Worst 19th century President -- U. S. Grant Worst 20th century President -- Warren G. Harding Worst 21st century President -- G. W. Bush And the overall winner is . . . (and not even close) . . . Grant. Great general, lousy President!
  • I think the question is: Who IS the worst us president.
  • bill clinton
  • Lets see.....BUSH! BUSH BUSH BUSH! He declared war on iraq for vengence for being attacked on 9/11 but with the cost of our economy going back to ten years. Sending many american soldiers over there and has said not wanting to reduce the number of soldiers there, with casulties of u.s. soldiers rising as i answer this question. And it seems pretty suspicous on 9/11 that u.s. airports security were loosened up, the bomb sniffing dogs weren't there to patrol the airports. Its starting to make you think. what the f*ck is george w bugh is doing and what is he hiding. You see? the u.s. is being run by an idiot!
  • Do you really have to ask?
  • Must be Andrew Jackson for his try to commit genocide on the native indians. It is getting late i cannot think straight Nixon must be in there somewhere
  • Oh get some historical context people and stop saying bill clinton or Bush because you disagreed with them. Historically I think Franklin Pierce is the worst US president.
  • George W Bush
  • GEORGE BUSH SR. I would say Bush Jr., but we all know his dad was much smarter...and that'd be bad if he was allowed to succed.
  • George Bush
  • President Bush.
  • Richard Nixon
  • BUSH!!! he made us go to war. we should be out by now
  • Both bushes
  • I would agree with edpesosss134 by saying tht Bush is pretty bad. However, NIXON is by far the worst.
  • Assuming the question relates to presidents of the USA, definitely the current one. Here's why. His dad was also weedy, two-faced and ineffectual (remember "Read my lips; no new taxes"?), but he at least had the intelligence to listen to his advisors when they told him invading and occupying Iraq would be a quagmire. Richard M Nixon was also a liar and a coward, but he at least had the intelligence to get out of Vietnam when it became obvious the war could not be won. No surge there. Those are the only real competitors, and I'd say Dubya wins hands down. How did he win two elections? I'm still struggling to understand it...
  • All Presidents have good points and bad points. But President James Buchanan probably takes the cake! Think back to what really caused the war between the states (AKA the Civil War)!
  • I'd like a chance to try for that honor: http://www.answerbag.com/image_viewer?aid=134043&iid=6379 (The kitten is for the tabloids...)
  • By death count, I don't think any American president has caused the deaths of more than 700,000 by his actions apart from George W. Bush. So B-Jnr, then. Or Dubya, as many of us know him.
  • George W. Bush.
  • Jimmy Carter
  • he is president right now
  • George W Bush, hands down.
  • George W. Bush!! That dirty rat. Going AGAINST the American people and what they want. I think he has used his presidential veto more than any other president and only has a 26% approval rating! Maybe less by now if they did another poll!
  • Dubya without any close competition either. He makes Nixon look like a saint especially in the case of wire tappings, W makes that look like the prank of a few college boys compared to the atrocities he has commited. Nixon just inherited a war he couldn't win whereas Dubya started one that has no endgame. History will vindicate this as the correct answer too.
  • My vote go for the two Impeached Presidents: Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton. They both were disgraceful. Nixon only gets an honorable mention since he had enough sense to resign before the Impeachment trial.
  • George W. Bush. He is the *only* US President!
  • In my lifetime (dating back to Lyndon Johnson), I would say that "W" has been the worst. Over US history, it's difficult to pick. Some obscure names like Franklin Pierce (direct ancestor of W on Mom's side!) and Zachary Taylor get lambasted by presidential scholars. If forced to choose, I would probably pick Warren Harding. Harding himself might have agreed: "I am not fit for this office and never should have been here."[cited on Wikipedia]
  • George Walker Bush is undoubtably the worst president in all of American history -- Lazy and stupid, he is just a rich, spoiled little fratboy who has been given everything he has gained on a silver foot. His Texas swagger and total disregard for the Constitution exposes him to be totally incompetent.
  • I don't really know. I am not an American. But George Bush certainly seems to raise people's ire.
  • it's too early to tell.
  • Hoover.
  • Middle initial: W
  • So far it seems as though they are all as bad as each other. The last one was terrible, imo. Thank goodness for this new one.
  • George W. Bush
  • George Bush...
  • Jimmy Carter - talk about a do nothing president
  • George W Bush.
  • We all know who the popular President to date is to bash... But let us not forget some of the other tragic presidencies of eras past. This is an excerpt from Rolling Stone Magazine... The Worst President in History? by SEAN WILENTZ Was the lousiest James Buchanan, who, confronted with Southern secession in 1860, dithered to a degree that, as his most recent biographer has said, probably amounted to disloyalty -- and who handed to his successor, Abraham Lincoln, a nation already torn asunder? Was it Lincoln's successor, Andrew Johnson, who actively sided with former Confederates and undermined Reconstruction? What about the amiably incompetent Warren G. Harding, whose administration was fabulously corrupt? Or, though he has his defenders, Herbert Hoover, who tried some reforms but remained imprisoned in his own outmoded individualist ethic and collapsed under the weight of the stock-market crash of 1929 and the Depression's onset?
  • Andrew Jackson
  • George W Bush, Jr. He will go down in history as the worst.
  • That would be a tie: Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan and Jimmy Carter. All were greatly incompetent. Pierce: ~ a U.S. Navy warship sent to Nicaragua bombs city while it is under British protection ~ The Ostend Manifesto was written by his diplomats at Ostend, Belgium. Spain must sell Cuba to U.S. or "we will take it". The document was leaked, embarassing the U.S. ~ enraged Boston by sending troops to retrieve a fugitive slave ~ supported Kansas-Nebraska Act which led to the mini-Civil War in Kansas in 1856 ("Bleeding Kansas") James Buchanan: ~ was one of the writers of Ostend Manifesto (see above) ~ supported Dred Scott decision, which overturned the Missouri Compromise that had more or less held the country together ~allowed South Carolina to secede (December 20, 1860) - secession illegal but he said that the Federal Govt. stopping it was also illegal ~ ship bringing supplies and soldiers to Fort Sumter forced away by South Carolina batteries - Buchanan does nothing ~ "ran out the clock" until Lincoln could be inaugurated and inherit problems Jimmy Carter: ~ "stagflation" of the economy (completely stagnant economy with tremendous double-digit inflation) ~ had no idea what to do about the American hostages in Iran (except for his disaterous, ill-planned "rescue" that resulted in military helicopter crashes and death)
  • Did you really mean 'IS'?
  • George W. Bush Jr. Definitely!
  • In my times it was Richard Nixon, because of Watergate.
  • This funny guy...
  • Some experts say that Harding deserves that title.
  • President Bush
  • The USA is the best super power the world had ever seen, and every president of its could only the next to the best-Abraham Lincoln! May God bless the US Prof. Mes
  • I think the worst was Clinton.....he was busy doing his thing and then tried to lie about it....yes I am sure other presidents have lied too but he missed alot of important signs of things that would later cost us American lives. The only thing he had the guts to do is have sex in the White House with someone other than his wife, without thinking that maybe someone would catch him or it would be found out later. He is pretty dumb to think it would go without being found-out.
  • Bush can not be judged just yet, if we all go back farther into history there have been far worse presidents. I find that most judgements on presidents are reactionary knee jerk opinions without any research. Most people tend to follow a opinion of one media outlet opposed to another. There has been at least three presidents that have damaged this country far worse than Bush has according to the historians...as of now. The jury will be out on Bush for awhile. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historical_rankings_of_United_States_Presidents
  • Being a bit of an historian and having seen a few presidents in my time I would have to say Bush single handedly has done more harm to our economy and foreign relations than any other president. If you judge a president because he got a BJ in office as bad you are ignorant. They mostly all did!!!!! Even LBJ, FDR, JFK.....all men of power do. the ones that don't are usually too old or have good relationships with their wives. Even Carter lusted in his heart.
  • the proper word is WORST I personally don't think any of them have been any bargains. I did not appreicate how Bill Clinton danced abound semantics with the whole Lewinsky Blow Job scandal. He is a cheating man that got himself sucked off. Who cares if he had regular "sexual relations" with her.
  • It is everyone's business....if he is our president. He is a man of no morals and a pervert.... Monica wasn't the only person he was lusting after or having an affair with...whether it was when he was a governor or the President of THE UNITED STATES!! The man who is our leader and his morals will lead us down the road of what he thinks is okay.....if we think whatever he does is okay and his business.
  • George W. Bush
  • trick question? he has almost destroyed us..thank god for clinton, obama, and mccain-they are all highly intelligent, qualified leaders-not adolescent frat boys with issues with daddy
  • The one will have right now, George W. Bush
  • George Walker Bush's presidency appears headed for colossal historical disgrace. Many historians are now wondering whether Dubya, in fact, will be remembered as the very worst president in all of American history. Not only the worst President, but the worst possible President.
  • the two Johnson's. Andrew and Lyndon
  • gwb. hands down done enough poli sci and gov research, and i'll still hand him the "jackas president of US history" award any day
  • That's an easy one: his name starts with George and ends in Bush.
  • worse than who?
  • William Henry Harrison! http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/wh9.html
  • Bush (both of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
  • Jimmy Carter. Yes he's worse than Bush Jr. IMHO!
  • wow! all these people talking bad about Bush...simply stunning. Yet, the same thing was said about Ronald Reagan, and now, everyone is reeping the benefits of his legacy. All im saying is, before you blame Bush, study your American History, and realize the world always needs a scapegoat!
  • Well before the current "Bush" came along. I would have said Richard Nixon. But I was a little girl when Nixon was President and I have learned more then I care to know about George Bush. Another thing, I liked his Dad a whole lot better! At least his Dad smiled and joked around more. I even liked Jeb Bush better.
  • George Bush because he got all our troops sent to Iraq.
  • Each successive one seems to redefine the meaning of that word.
  • Even though he was an important Democrat to our founding nation, Andrew Jackson did some pretty harsh things like the Indian removal act, but Truman did annihilate thousands in Hiroshima with the atom bomb soo... its between those two in my opinion
  • hands down- bush. he is a retaliatory idiot.
  • Clinten
  • Lyndon Johnson without a doubt. He has more American blood on his hands than Hitler and Hirohito combined.
  • Nobody was ever as bad as George W Bush. I still cannot fathom how he got re elected.
  • George W. Bush is up there, but the worst President to date is still Herbert Hoover.
  • I am going to say William Henry Harrison, he didnt do a damn thing lol
  • ahem... well from an outsiders opinion i gotta say your current one does seem a little moronic at times
  • The current one. Not only has "Dumb-Ya" ruined our standing around the world, but our economy as well.
  • It's widely agreed that James Polk was pretty bad. We'll have to wait a few years to see how George W. ranks, but it'll be in the bottom 20%, that's for sure.
  • I would say Woodrow Wilson. He got himself elected running on a platform of non-intervention and then proceeded to drag us into Europe's latest bloodbath (World War One, which was frankly no affair of ours) on the basis of some pretty flaky justifications. A fair bit of the reason that the Central Powers were completely defeated (instead of both sides finally suing for peace due to sheer exhaustion or something similar) was due to the US intervention, had we not jumped in something less severe and thus more likely to be just to the defeated parties would have likely resulted IMO. I'm not saying Germany, Turkey, and Austro-Hungary were saints, but there was plenty of pig-headedness to go around for ALL parties to the useless bloodshed and the Central Powers most certainly did NOT deserve to have all the blame. Instead of something reasonable, we wind up with the punitive terms of the Versailles Treaty that really paved the way for Adolf Hitler's rise to power and thus set the stage for World War Two which Wilson's useless League of Nations was supposed to prevent. He really opened the door for the policy of massive government intervention abroad and set the stage for the almost imperial behavior the US has had a penchant for most of this century; not to mention his fondness for a progressive, heavy tax system and government meddling in private citizens' affairs on an unprecedented (at that time) scale. All because Woody wanted to play internationalist games.
  • The current one has done us in and the world so far.
  • Since we haven't reached the end of time just yet, it is impossible to answer your question! However, George W. was given plenty of time to do his worst; he has been making a monumental effort and he may not have finished yet. A definite candidate!
  • Robert Mugabe (still is).
  • Robert Mugabe & Adolf Hitler
  • I will say Woodrow Wilson for his signing into law the creation of the Federal Reserve. A moment he regretted terribly in his memoirs. He later wrote: "I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world. No longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men."
