First one was easy (girl), second on was alot harder (boy)

Strangely, it came rather easy. My husband and I came up with the same name at different times in different situations (his from a book and mine while I was playing an old text-based RPG). Weird.

My sister took two days to name my neice after she was born, even then MY best friend ended up naming her!!! A few years later, my Best Friend had a baby and I jokingly asked her if she was planning on letting my sister name her baby in return, she replied, "No, I want her to have a name before she's two!"

I don't have children but I have to get to know the personality of my cats and then a name comes easy. I think it would be hard naming a personality that just emerged from the birth canal. If I had a kid, I would have to think it over for a few days.

It took time to choose the right name for my children. Much thought, discussion, and of course practicing the whole name is important, not to mention that if your child is a boy and you really want to call him Marcus but he looks more like a Michael or a Zachary.... you get the idea?

I wrote down all the names I liked and had my friends and family chose the ones they liked best. I took that list and chose the name I liked most. Blake William. :)

My boys were easy. When I thought I might be pregnant, I prayed; asking God if I was, and what I was to look forward to. A few nights later, I had a dream; everything was there. Gender, names, everything. My older one was a different story. I thought I was having a boy. Had every thing for a boy, even the name. After SHE was born; well I was left scrambling. I sure could have used a dream like that then! LOL!!!!

I'm slightly backwards! I already have names...I just need the children to give them too! lol

I considered so many things when naming my five kids. It is like a dance. You want something that might be somewhat unusual but at the same time not be overly pretentious. I knew I didn't want a name so overused either. My classroom we have 3 kids and all Madisons and are called Maddy/Mattie/Madie. They have to be called w/ their last initial each time. A pain. I went w/ family names such as in last names. When I tell my kids why I named them this or that I can say it was because this person was a good person or brave or had great character. I read somewhere that a child will unconsciously exhibit that behavior if told over time that they were named after such a person.
