U go into store 2 buy things. u pick up 20$ item, get distracted & leave. you later realize you left w/o paying. u go back next day & pay. Store has you on vid. & refuse payment. u leave $ and item w/ owner, is this a crime you can get arrested 4?

I don't know the legalities. Hopefully someone else might be able to help you there. But going on precisely what you wrote - morally you have done everything physically possible to make amends for your initial mistake. And that surely has to count for something. Good luck.

Technically, yes, but most judges would toss any prosecution out of court for wasting their time trying to prosecute someone who had already made restitution.

Can you get arrested? Yes Did you commit a crime? No In order to get arrested for shoplifting, there must be probable cause that you picked up an item with the intent of stealing it. Here, intent would be inferred by the fact that you picked up the item and left the store.
