Short for "advantage in" and "advantage out", "ad-in" and "ad-out" are the points immediately following deuce (40-40). If the score is deuce, and the server wins the next point, the score is then "ad-in". If the server wins another point it is game. If the receiver scores at deuce, it is "ad-out" and another point for the receiver will break the game. If the server scores while at ad-out or the receiver scores at ad-in, the score returns to deuce.
