  • Hmmm. I would say most people don't have the patience for the epic, serial nature of Dragonball Z and find it difficult to take seriously given that in the states, animation is associated with kid's shows. Complicating the matter is the sheer amount of time that any given story segment takes to resolve. Even more difficult are the bizarre ideas and characters developed slowly throughout the manga that even includes the original Dragonball series. A new viewer will likely come in somewhere in the middle of the story and happen upon a 'powering up' scene and wonder what in the world is going on. Then they hear the characters arguing about power levels and transformations and maybe have to deal with dead characters, saiyens (sp?) and mysterious pseudo-martial arts. And for some reason everybody is floating. Why? Nobody knows. This viewer has no idea who any of the characters are, where they came from, how many times they've died, and why turning super-saiyen 3 is so important. In short, Dragonball Z is probably the least palatable show ever made, complete with poor dubbing, cheezy synth music, lost cross-cultural references and an uncertain target demographic. This isn't to say the show is bad, it's just really demanding, since you basically have to watch it a season at a time.
  • THANK YOU!
  • dbz was a draggingly long series and toriyama didnt even make gt and af is a fan storyboard. Jackie Chan likes the series though. most of it was based on the legend of the monkey king but even that didnt progress past frieza's defeat on namek...
  • I thought it was actually a pretty good show...
  • This is coming from someone who used to watch DBZ and eventually got tired of it. I DON'T hate DBZ, but I know what made me stop watching it. FIRST REASON: RECYCLED STORYLINE. The basic plot of DragonBall Z is this: 1. Bad aliens goes to earth and wants to destroy it. 2. Lotsa earth people die and/or earth blows up. 3. The heroes fight back and someone really important dies. 4. The remaining heroes get really, really pissed off and transform to the next level of Saiyan-ism. 5. Enemy dies. 6. The dead are resurrected through the dragonballs. 7. Bad aliens go to earth. again. Rinse. Repeat. SECOND REASON: DRAGGING STORYLINE. I remember that part of the story where the DBZ heroes were about to fight Perfect Cell in some sort of arena Cell made himself. I was busy with school that time and missed about half a month's worth of episodes. When I went back to watching the series, they were still on that same arena, and someone's yet to fight the damned alien. That's when I decided I could probably miss an entire series' worth of episodes and not miss much. THIRD: BAD MUSIC. Good music is still good music even when the words are Japanese. However, I am yet to catch myself nor anybody else humming a DBZ opening song. Even my friends who are DBZ fanatics admit they don't listen to it. Know why? Because... well. Listen to it and find out.
  • Iv never really liked the dragon ball Z series...mostly because thay drag on from aout 10 episodes later and then get to a conclusion. and how come the earth is always in danger?in the entire series of the dragon ball Z Iv have yet to see the earth not under attack. I only like dragon ball, I dont really have the time to keep watching the same episodes over again, besides it never comes on anymore. No offence but I HATE naruto. So now I have to watch it on the internet...
  • Dragonball Z is changed from Toriyama's original view. His input is more visible throughout the Dragonball series back when they at least had some limits and couldn't blow up planets. Also, as an anime, Dragonball Z was extremely slow. If you have read the manga version, five minutes to destroy planet Namek should take five minutes to read.
  • dragonball z was, is and always will be the greatest anime of all time. d reason so many dislike it is becuz dey dnt av the patients to watch it. nevermind dragonball and dragonball gt (gt was actually a rip off of dragonball z. sum unknown person started it and den it was given to different writers than dragonball and dragonball gt)
  • on the contrary, i lot of ppl still like Dragonball Z because it's an action packed series. unlike Dragonball GT where you can fall asleep while watching the series. if you're a guy that hates DBZ, you're as gay as Boy George.
  • i agree they wasted to much time especially with the cheering for hercule was a waste of time but overall its the best show on earth..dbgt was also good i dont understand y u guys hate it so much..the music is also good and dbgt end was so class
  • maybe because it takes a lot of time just watching the blue sky or people stare each other. i mean why don't they just fight, not waste the time. not like the manga to the point . but i like dragon ball z so much, maybe we should deleted it some part of it first before watching it again. btw, i hate dragon ball GT. it sucks. they forgot that gohan can't transform again into super saiyan. and they forgot there is a character name Ten Shin Han,Kuririn,Yamcha,Chaoz. what are you training for Ten Shin Han? even you are much stronger you didn't help at all when earth is attack, you aren't featured on GT. And what are chaoz and yamcha do when there is a chaos on earth? dragon ball GT forgot this character. i miss old dragon ball.
  • Apparently you guys that hate dbz are very picky. Dbz was named and known to everyone the greatest action cartoonof all time, no other series comes close to it. If you pay attention to the show long enough you get hypnotized and want to watch more. Dragon ball was a less serious series and involved more comedy but was still pretty good. And GT, they tried to mix stuff with Dbz and dragonball together and thus formed crap. Those of you who hate dbz are probly in their late 20's and 30's and must understand its a kids and maybe teens show. Its stuff that kids love to watch.
  • im 20 and i love the dragonball series
  • most of you are wrong. DragonBall Z is a exaggerated, quickly-boring rip-off of the true most successful shonen anime/manga of all time. The one that "dragonball z"`s "inspiration" came from. Hokuto No Ken. AKA: Fist of the North Star. Dragonball Z is for fools with ADD that cant have non-seizure inducing fight scene. Or at least one that makes logical sense. Kenshiro: Omae wa mu, shin deiru. You are already dead...
  • Its Entertaining to say the least i wouldn't say its the greatest in way. The biggest thing that irked me is that once Goku could use Instant Transmission he would rarely dodge gigantic ki blasts instead he'd be baffled by its size and sit there...
  • i love DragonBall Z and also have come across many people who like DragonBall Z and who are awaiting the movie based on the series titled"DragonBall Evolution"
  • dragonballz is the best fighting shows i have ever seen i dont like dragonball but i do like the fight in gt where they fight omega sheron that one was ok
  • I liked many of the DragonBall Series. Z was one of the best though.
  • cauze their gay...
  • My experience has been different. Most people that grew up with me LOVE Dragon Ball. We understand that it is a phase that we go through and it marks a part of our childhood. The only people that disliked Dragon Ball Z were the people who didn't watch the entire series, or the people who were not entirely familiar with the series, characters, time lines, etc. And they also disliked it because they had a limited understanding of what the series was meant to be.
  • generally i liked DBZ, the long filler segments were annoying sure but once the action started it was worth it.
