  • Black smoke tends to be more of carbon burn. So my guess would be in fuel/air ratio. Maybe emissions equipment? Catalytic converter? Is the "check engine" light on? if so I would get a read on the computer and go from there. Also with a computer like a genisys, you can plug up and run the car an look at different sensors and see how they are performing, and can pinpoint the one with bad readings. Hope this helps
  • Check the airfilter it might be plugged and choking the engine.
  • it could be a couple of things but i would check your head gasgit to be safe if not fuel pump
  • Maybe an O2 sensor and either a restriction of exhaust or a problem with the air fuel mixter, mass airflow sensor.
  • Sounds like somebody stuck a banana up your tail pipe
  • also check that your not losing radiatior fluid mysteriously (just a good idea to check) I had a lot of hesitation when my MAP sensor went out (or is it MAF?), which is what we changed after my O2 sensor which we assumed first, but if you unplug it and everything gets better then you'll know. You should actually find you get a bit more response and power, but this comes at the cost of dumping fuel through your engine really quickly.
