The people who flew airplanes into our buildings were the ones who 'broke the law' and killed a lot of innocent Americans too. Americans did NOTHING to deserve this. The perpetrators were Islamic fundamentalists bent on Jihad (just like recent terrorist incidents in Spain, Russia, India, Indonesia, Israel, etc. etc.). The concern should be about the desire of a certain large numbers of religious fanatics bent on achieving world domination using very violent means. I think you are probably a very nice person, but I have to disagree with you. I have seen a lot of postings about these conspiracy theories, and I must speak my mind. I feel we are in danger of getting distracted from some very real concerns by focusing on relatively minor diversions. The conspiracy theories floating around concerning 9/11 are pretty poorly constructed and vague. All conspiracy theories are based on many facts being not fully provable or verifiable. And of course the proof is always missing because it was 'covered up'. Since neither you or I was there (9/11) we will have to rely on information we receive from many sources (some reliable and some unreliable) and most importantly a bit of common sense. A sample conspiracy theory might say 'The government is run by a secret society' and the reason it is not spoken of in the mainstream media is 'they don't want you to know'. Then if anyone disagrees, that person is 'brainwashed' or is 'part of the coverup'. In a conspiracy theory, all 'evidence' is conjecture constructed by developing conclusions that 'could' be possible and trying as much as possible to base those 'possible but unprovable' conclusions on actual facts. There are and have been many conspiracy theories on many topics throughout history. Back to 911 - I could make up a better conspiracy theory than the one you seem to be attracted to. For instance, I could make up a story that Democrats somehow caused 9/11 to ruin Bush's new presidency. But of course they carefully 'covered their trail'. Then I could make up a bunch of 'evidence' to support my theory - like 'well the democratic senators ll stayed away from New York that day'. But most of the important evidence was destroyed in the towers. This is more plausible than most of the 9/11 conspiracies I have heard. I do not imply it happened this way (this is just an example) - but the conspiracy theories you are espousing were built this same way mostly by people speculating and then 'finding' little factoids and enhancing their story to explain how these factoids fit in with their speculative 'theory'. The final result of these conspiracy theories is that they detract from us dealing with some very real threats that exist in the world. They have existed and have been brewing a LONG time, but 9/11 made most Americans realize the seriousness of these threats.

If Bill Clinton had not driven Osama Bin Laden out of business by invading Afghanistan, then Laden would have quietly continued his business, considering that Osama Bin Laden himself said that he was a bad Muslim and had not been religious for years. Bill Clinton showed, to me, his guilt in this by suddenly changing from being Bush's political enemy to backing Bush on everthing on 9/11. Further, right after 9/11 Bush would only hint at Laden being involved. Bush said much about evil and stuff like that- but Bush had to protect the government from being connected to the cause of 9/11, including changing the person leading the federal government person in charge of investigating 9/11 several times.
