What's the difference between when a website uses .com and .org when they are the same company?( for example fastweb.com and fastweb.org )

    .com is used by individuals too. I have 5 .com domains.
    If somebody registers all those domains,then nobody can regiser a different . whatever to imitate them. Registering one or two still leaves more domains to be used to imimitate the original.
    Any of the types of domains can be non-profit

    .org means that the site is run by a non-profit agency. fastweb.com is NOT the same site as fastweb.org

    .com is for companies
    .org is for organisations (maybe non governmental bodies)

    if a company uses domains (.net .co.uk .org .com etc) it stops someone else registering the same name, with different ending, and imitating the true site.
