Why are there so many problems with new user Confirmation? A search of "unconfirmed" shows MANY new users have had issues.

I had the same problem but I changed email address and received the confirmation letter right away..

yeah it doesnt let me confirm, i changed my email around a few times too. Oh well, cant leave comments or rate things.

I think it's an email provider issue. From what I've read, AOL email is less than "AB friendly", and other email providers might be the same way.
