When you answer a question...do you answer it before or after reading other answers?

I usually read the other answers first. And then if somebody's already said what I was going to say, I can just uprate and comment. Unless there are like millions of answers...

I am very guilty of not reading through all the answers because I love to answer with the very first thing that comes to mind... but I really am trying to be a little better about reading through for the sake of being considerate about redundancy!

It really all depends on the question asked. If it is a basic or easy question that chances are likely going to bring the same results I will read other answers before I answer. If the question is asking for suggestions openly or based opinions I will answer the question and then read the other answers. My main goal is to help the asker and not post to become popular with the other answerers as I believe all answers should be submitted keeping the asker in mind.

I usually read the other answers first, so I don't repeat an answer or so I can agree with another answer and add my own thoughts to it ..

It depends on the question. I will read them first to see if my answer will be a repeat if it is something simple. If it is a personal or opinion question, I answer first, so that my opinion is not affected by other answers. I answered first on this question, now I will go back and read the other answers.

Honestly, it depends on how many answers the question has. If it is an opinion question, I will normally answer after only reading a few of the answers. Factual questions I will read to be sure the correct answer hasn't already been given.

I answered a few of them without reading them and even got one to go down as being the top answer. Not making any sense sells big time in here once in a while.:)

It depends on a few things, but I usually read through a few answers before I answer, because ....... I'm relatively new to AB. and still learning; To make sure I've understood the question correctly; To make sure that the question hasn't turned into a verbal war.

I usually answer without reading the other answers first. I express my true thoughts better when I don't read other opinions, hopefully it isn't too much like the other answers. I have just comment on peoples answers before, but it usually on a question where I know people are going to have similar answers.
