depends what muscle your trying to work on....

stand with your legs apart( shoulder width) have your hands sitting just about the same width apart on the bar...... have your elbows just resting on the side of your body..lift the weight up to your shoulders... make sure you don't move the rest of your body... its easier to swing the bar up but if you want it to work.. stand tall and firm and only use your arms.... and make sure when your going back down it is a controlled movement... Its hard for me to explain, i hope you can understand... BTW i don't have big biceps, my knowledge is from my pump class... ha ha

If you're trying to work your biceps, you're better off doing pullups or chinups than curls with those. You could use them for one-legged squats or lunges to work you legs also.
