Can a Illinois "Homeowners Association" dictate what kind of car or truck you drive as your main mode of transportation or restrict you from parking anywhere on the property, including your driveway, if it is NOT a "Commercial Vehicle"?

Additionally, the "Rules" read as follows..."Sec.10 "Vehicles": "Any vehicle, boat, camper, trailer, truck, minibike or snowmobile shall not be "STORED" on the community areas or driveways (permanently or temporarily),except upon approval by the board; provided, however, that passenger vehicles of any "Owner" may be parked in any Dwelling Unit Driveway".

They cannot dictate what car you drive, but they can dictate what cars are parked in open view. What vehicle do you drive?

Looking at the rules, I believe the word "passenger vehicle" is pretty clear. There is a specific definition and if your vehicle is not a passenger vehicle, you cannot park on the property without approval of the board. Perhaps if you found the U.S.Department of Transportation definition of "passenger vehicle" includes your vehicle, you could convince them it is covered.
