  • It probably hurts him or he doesn't want to scrape his wrist again
  • First off, you shouldn't use alcohol on large wounds. Secondly, ALOT of kids refuse to use any part of they're body that has been hurt. It's a psychological thing. They do it because they think they could possibly end up hurting it again. I bet if you get him to do an activity that is REALLY fun, he'll forget all about it and use his hands like normal.
  • Why don't you ask him. He may surprise you and give you an answer. But if I had to guess I would say he remembers how much it hurt and is afraid if he uses it then it will hurt again.
  • Is there swelling or discoloration? You might want to get him xrayed just in case. Kids at that age suprisingly don't act like fractures hurt that much. We had a 4 year old girl with a fractured collar bone the other day and she was laughing and playing. She said ow, when we put it in the immobilizer, but she acted fine.
