  • You would have to establish legal paternity to collect child support.
  • I'm sorry... i find this appalling. A father has every right to custody of his child. Women want Full custody, nothing on the birth certificate, and payments. Its a bit one sided dont you think? Studies have shown a child who grows up with both parents present (whether that be together or separated) has a more balance up bringing.
  • With or without child support the baby deserves a father, and you are morally obligated to make sure that Baby has a good and wholesome relationship with its Dad... It's not for your sake, Mom, and it's not for Dad's sake either--it's for the Baby's sake. Don't use the father's failure to pay as an excuse to keep him away from the Baby. (Assuming that you love and really care about your baby.)
  • It's not what you want, it's what AngelBaby needs. Put your baby before yourself or your emotions. You're a mom now--you no longer have the right to call yourself a child. Baby first. Give Angel her, his, father. That's the most loving thing any mother can do. Yes, try to get money support--but not at the expense of your Baby.
  • yes you can do that. and dont listen to these people you dont HAVE to do anything. if hes a piece of shit hes a piece of shit and he shouldnt have screwed you over like that, you can take him to court. they'll order a paternity test if he doesnt admit to being the father and then yr set.
  • Get yourself a lawyer to protect your and the baby best interest. If you don't get a court order in your favor, the father can go to court and take your baby away. Save yourself a lot of trouble and get legal custody as soon as possible.
  • The father of your baby has rights whether you put him on the birth certificate or not. There is no reason not to, and it makes life easier for the child. If you don't put him on the certificate he can go to court, the court will order paternity tests to make sure he is the father, and his rights will be validated and the court will make a judgment about visitation and child support. He will have some sort of visitation because this is part of parental rights. He will be made to pay a portion of his wages to you to support his child. To answer your question you cannot keep the father from seeing his child. You cannot make the father pay child support unless you put him on the birth certificate or the court verifies he is the father through DNA testing. When and if the court orders visitation, they will also order child support. Family law is different in different state and I have given you general information. You should talk to a family lawyer in your state.
  • not true about the birth certificate and court ordered visitation after a support order. I am going through this and asked for CS and was ordered CS and granted primary residence and custodialship over my child as the one who receives support is the primary parent. He would have to file for visitation, and he has not as of 18 months after her birth. He would have to change her birth certificate and he has not after 18 months. I have tried to include him in her life, but he leaves every few months.
  • The father of the child is the father of the child whether he is on the birth certificate or not. Why deprive your child of a clear record of her/his birth? You can get support for the child from the father, however, if he is underage and not working there is nothing for him to provide. I hope you are sharing with your friends that your position is not one to aspire to. Sex and babies are for married adults. I hope you have a supportive family. I just realized how old this question is so hopefully you are doing alright now.
