The seemiller grip is a table tennis grip developed by Davis (?) Seemiller who won the World Championships 5 times. It is also known as the American Grip as it is very popular in the States. The Seemiller grip is very similar to the Hammer/Handshake grip. It is good for powerful forehand and gives you an excellent blocking game.

Itlooks like a forehand biased grip - great for forehand , poor for developing topspin from backhand and poor for blocking if the ball arrives deep into your backhand. Someone with this grip will try hard to get in on his forehand so you need to keep him honest - wide to the forehand and then deep to the backhand. I still prefer a standard non biased shakehand grip - gives best balance.

The Seemiller grip, is also referred to as the "basement grip"
Made famous by Danny Seemiller, the grip is basically the shakehand grips with a few modifications. The pointer finger, normally resting on the back handside, extends past the blade and wraps around the blade, and the thumb, is pointed up towards the rubber on the forehand side.
