Do the traffic school & get it over with. Beating lights is the kind of thing that traffic cops do not like at all.
-
but can you take traffic school for wreckless driving?
-
I can only tell you that from my experience, going to court has always resulted in them settling for something less than the original ticket. In your case, that could mean paying a fine and them knocking off points. I don't see how you have anything to lose by going. I'd give it a try. Might want to keep that "trying to make a light" part to yourself though;)

Did you make the light? What were the driving conditions like? What is the legal definition of "reckless" in your jurisdiction? Do you have any witnesses? I think that you need a lawyer. If I were you, I would show up in court to see if the officer shows up. If he doesn't, than I would make a motion to dismiss. He has to show up. If he doesn't, then the prosecution has no case. If he does, then I would make a motion for a continuance. You have the right to at least one continuance. Tell the court that you are trying to find legal counsel. What the traffic defense lawyers do is to try and continue the case as long as possible. There is a chance that the cop will get pissed and not show up. Good luck.

if you haven't done so lately in Texas they will let you take a defensive driving course and/or request deferred adjudication (which means if you don't get another ticket in,say six months it goes away). however, in either case you have to pay the fine-it just doesn't go on your record. if it's not too late (nothing like waiting until the last minute then asking on answerbag ;-P, you might ask a lawyer to look at it and see if they're any technical deficiency. At any rate, go down there-sometime the cops no-show and it gets dismissed.

I would do whatever it took to get "wreckless driving" off of my record. Your insurance company won't like it on there either.
-
Some courts depending on were you live will probably dismiss it do to incompletion of the ticket violation. Or you can do like the others said on here if it will be helpful to you.

Did you mean reckless driving? When writing you for reckless driving, he does not have to write your speed on the citation, he only has to articulate in what ways you were reckless. Here's a quick economics lesson: stopping at a stop light = free....speeding while blowing a red light, and getting caught = a fine, court costs, and points against your license. Judging by your English skills you may not be much more than a 10 Watt, so I'll help you; the first one is the best choice.

Fight it, in most cases the officer does not have the time to come to court and without the officer, it will be thrown out.
