  • I wouldn't even consider giving a baby rice cereal until he or she is 4-6 months old. I believe this is also the recommendation by the American Association of Pediatrics. http://www.aap.org/advocacy/releases/infantnutrition.htm
  • Naw. Don't do it. I know how you feel. Our little 11 month old was ALWAYS hungry when he was born, occasionally even polishing off as much as twice the recommended amount of formula in a day. This again is NOT recommended but I definitely wouldn't give baby rice before recommended time. I know it feels horrible, but trust me, it gets better!! We had a really tough time with food/sleep in first 3 months and then with sleep right up until 6months. BUT he is awesome, and he's so much better now. Once we hit 6months everythin got so much easier and the dark period after birth is now a distant memory (even though it REALLY felt like it was never going to end.) Hang in, you'll get there! ...and the old cliche that I HATED people saying (but now feel it's true!).... Enjoy it as much as you can as they will never be this age again!
  • I fed my son rice with formula twice a day after he turned 2 months old. My pediatrician said as long as he was still taking his formula and drinking water and his stool remained normal that it was ok. You are supposed to spoon feed it though..no making them suck it from a bottle.
  • ABSOLUTELY NOT. When your baby is a newborn, his system is not equipped to digest rice. Not only do you risk digestive upset to the nth degree, you risk an allergic reaction that could even kill the kid if it is a bad enough reaction.
  • i gave both of my normal weight 5 and 7 yr olds formula with rice mixed in it when they were babies. i know a lot of people do. it really helps to satiate their hunger and satifies them. just don't put too much in per bottle. i would only use like a tablespoon per bottle to start.
