If actors are good at their job, they shouldn't have to really kiss to make it look like a real kiss! Oh, but I think we've all seen some slipping of the tongue in a movie or TV show . . . I think though, those tongue slips might be added to make the scene hotter and more real and it's still not a real kiss. I've seen actors on talk shows express what it's like to kiss other actors, and how they play games with each other, like sneaking a little tongue in for laughs. Plus they all take great pains to keep their breath clean, unless they are pranksters and purposely eat garlic or onions before the kissing scene. There's certainly times when a director wants the characters to be hot on-screen and has the actors give a more realistic looking kiss. This obviously requires the actors to have good chemistry to make it work. A good example is Halle Berry and Billy Bob Thornton in "Monster's Ball" cause their sex scene really looked like it happened . . . But I highly doubt it!

Hey if I was an actor, kissing a hot actress, I would be encouraged to make it look as real as possible.

I used to be into theater and we had to learn about gestures and on-stage actions of these sorts. Generally any kissing in movies and whatever you see happening actually IS happening. If you're seeing some hot tongue-ing action, chances are they are probably really doing it. It's just another part of the job, so it really may mean nothing for them to do it. If they are well-trained actors, then they won't be "uncomfortable" with it, so they'll do it. This also goes the same with on-stage slapping/weak fighting gestures... They really do slap eachother in most cases. (I know it wasn't asked about slapping, but just another thing to compare with)
