Some protestant faiths teach people to be frugal, work hard, don't spend foolishly, etc. They own most of corporate America (now others have figured out how to do this and are catching up). To them wearing this type is unusual but possible. Most would use the money to make more money. Book: "The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism." Old book but a real lesson on how to accumulate wealth. Warren Buffet probably read it just before I did. He used it and I did not. It is not a sin to accumulate excess wealth if you use it to do excess good.

No, it's not a "sin" to accumulate wealth. It's a sin to let your money take the place of God in your life, and to become prideful about being wealthy. Wearing a diamond-encrusted crucifix seems a bit extreme to me, but that's between the wearer and God. I'm called to love God and to love people, not to judge them.

I think the big problem with that is that you're flaunting your wealth, which is not nice, and that you are flaunting the fact that you have a crucifix around your neck, trying to make everyone aware of your supposed belief in Jesus. These are two big no nos. You are not suppose to be a braggart about your faith, especially if it's just to get attention.
