Only newer ones, and then you need a television that is also compatible. But generally speaking, the answer is "no". The US uses 525 lines, 30 fields/sec, the UK 625 lines, 25 fields/sec. I would assume that the answer is "No" unless you can find out otherwise for the particular model of VCR and TV you want to use.
