In the Kansas City area, it seems that it very often pours north of the Missouri River, but is dry south of it. My bro-in-law saw something on the Weather Channel that it's due to a "vapor barrier", I think he said, and that it's one of only 3 such places on the planet. w00t!

I've been to that boulder field! It's awesome! 500 yds X 1/2 mile of nothing but 6-15 ft. rounded bedrock boulders. You can hear the river running underneath the rocks.
