  • Peroxide. If it persists to get worse, contact your doctor and they can prescribe a cream or something to treat it appropriately.
  • If it is as bad as you say, go straight to the doctor. It sounds as if home remedies won't help since I'm sure you've already tried something by now.
  • go to the doctor. they can help.
  • when an infection occurs at the cartilage, you MUST goto the doctor, there is no (well not enough of) blood flowing through the cartilage so it can't take care of it self and can lead to having to remove your ear (i have a piercing on my cartilage, so i did a lot of studying about it) you must see a doctor right away.. however.. it can also be just a keloid? (calcium build up kinda) where its hard a bumpy? those are just.. as is, when piercing cartilage, and is done wrong.. it can shatter the cartilage and make it alil bumpy.. but nothing to be worried about..
  • Cut off your ear. That will get rid of the infected area. Trust me, works every time. (although I wouldn't actually recomend this method, I was simply stating that it works.)
  • As above, get some tea tree oil from the body shop [or wherever!] and apply it a few times a day. Or, vitamin E oil is also said to help as it softens the infection. [also avaliable from the body shop.] once the infection has gone, if this works for you, then don't continue to put tea tree oil on it as it will get used to it and won't work as effectively if an infection.keloid occurs again.
  • My advice to you is to go to the doctor if it is really bad. I just had this problem and the doctor said that if I had waited much longer, I would have lost my ear. Trust me, it's not worth losing your ear over.
  • I will not recomend tee-tree oil because the oil simply not sterile even have some ( just some !!!) anibacterial healing effect! Peroxide can help but I strongly recomend to visite doctor!
  • I am a state licensed professional body piercer and daily get questions about 'infected' piercings. Often times it is simply an irritation. Normal healing of a piercing includes swelling (first week or so), soreness, redness and a white-ish fluid that dries on the ring as a clear to yellowish crust. The fluid is not pus; it is lymph fluid that your body uses to clean wounds of dirt and bacteria. If you have swelling lasting more than a week or pus that is brownish it can be a sign of infection. If it sounds more like irritation as I have described, the best approach is non iodized sea salt. Mix 1/8 to 1/4 of a teaspoon in a cup of warm water and soak it on your piercing at least two times a day for 6-10 minutes at a time. Stronger mixtures are not better! This will flush the piercing and promote oxygen flow to the damaged tissue. The major DO NOTs for piercings: Don't rotate the ring you will drag dirt and dried lymph fluid through the hole. ABSOLUTELY no harsh chemicals.. this includes alcohol and peroxide. They have a cytotoxic effect on the piercing, meaning that they kill many of the cells repairing the area and slow healing. I would advise seeking a professional body piercer to look at it. Especially if done with a piercing gun. They are very damaging to your skin and more so to cartilage. Doctors often know little about piercings and the healing of them, and will often label any redness 'infection'. A good piercer will let you know what is going on with your ear and in the very rare chance that you need a doctor they will advise you to see one.
  • I heard that you can put honey on some infected cuts. Im wondering if its the same with a piercing?
  • Mine was infected so bad that i had a staff infection... i recommend seeing a doctor
  • i got mine pierced and about a week later i woke up and it was all swollen and red. i let it go for about a day, and it didnt go away the next day, i went back to the place i got it pierced and they told me it was infected. they took the earring out, and yes it hurt very bad, but as soon as she took it out the stuff came out. it was still swollen the next day and i went to the doctor and they told me it was very infected and gave me some medicine. the people at the piercing place told me sometimes it takes people 3 or 4 times for the cartilage to heal without this happening. I suggest you see a doctor, take it out, and try again when its completely healed.
