How was Adolf Hitler able to convince the German people that they were the master race (blond hair, blue eyes) when Hitler himself had black hair?

    Well, firstly Hitler didn't say the Germans were the master race. Hitler practiced Nazism which basically meant people you should stick together by nationality. The master race in which he dreamt of creating were named the "Aryians." These "Aryians" were blonde haired blue eyed Germans.

    Anyways, Hitler was an amazing speaker and had great public image. It is not like Hitler was pubically a vicious dictator murderer. It was said that listening to Hitler's voice was almost orgasmic. With Hitlers voice he inspired the nation to follow him into a gradual take over of Europe(and idealy the world.) That eventually lead to WWII.

    The Blonde hair blue eye theory is just exaguration. He wanted the Aryan race to breed. The Aryans are a group of people orignally from central Europe like Itlay and Greece who travelled east and settled in places as far away like Northern India, near the Indus river. Well this theory has been thrown out of the window now with the number of inter race children these days.

    He actually had medium to maybe medium-dark brown hair, and I remember reading once that he claimed that it had been light brown earlier in life.

    a lot of people with blond hair experience darkening over the years.

    national socialism is mostly about races breeding only with each other, and presumably the "aryans" were considered to be at the top of the chain.

    how was hitler able to convince the german people to do any of the stuff they did? he was an incredibly charismatic person. i don't know if there has been any political leader since (or even before) who has even come close to matching his gift for speech and persuasion.

    that said, no, i don't agree with the idea of national socialism myself, but basically, your answer lies in the fact that hitler was an incredibly gifted speaker, and that even if his hair didn't darken from a natural blond? he'd be able to convince you that it had.

    Perhaps it appealed to the gullible people inclined to believe that horsehit to secretly think they were better even than Hitler. Such a powerful man to recognize their superiority. They must be special.

    Okay, I'm no expert at European history, but I think there is much here that is being totally taken out of context. The Germans were a tribal people who were very tough and skilled at fighting. They had even succeeded in giving the Roman Empire much grief. Like I say, I'm no expert at European history, but I do know that Germany as a nation is fairly recent. There have been Germanic peoples over much of Europe through much of history. They were organized into interrelated tribes who were sometimes at war and sometimes allied and very intermarried to reinforce those sometimes alliances. Eventually, they became hundreds of little kingdoms led by princes, bishops, dukes, counts, Archbishops, etc. with a couple of larger kingdoms, Prussia and the Hapsburgs, thrown in for good measure. You can imagine the nightmare of warfare with all these little kingdoms vying with each other for power, control and territory. But to say that Hitler was Austrian, not German is just plain silly. Neither country had been in existence for very long and they'd both been glommed together out of bits of other Germanic territories. My own family was from the Alsace, and we've long joked that we were French, German or Swiss depending on which way the wind blew.

    To take Hitler out of the context of WWI and the Great Depression (which was pretty nearly worldwide) is also ludicrous. After the defeat of Kaiser Wilhelm in WWI, the still fairly fledgling state of Germany was forced to pay reparations to the Allies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_I_reparations
    Germany was broken and defeated, in the middle of a depression and trying to recover from the war, and now they were forced to pay reparations too. I've heard that people were literally starving and malnourished in Germany, not to mention lacking shelter, clothing and shoes. http://www.thecorner.org/hist/wwi/results.htm A man like Hitler can convince an empty belly of almost anything. A man like Hitler can convince the parents of a cold, barefoot child of almost anything. All he has to promise are shoes and potatoes.

    Don't think yourself safe from something like this, because it is then that you are most vulnerable. I've struggled with this since I was a child. In sixth grade, my beloved teacher showed us films of the liberation of the death camps. I am of German descent, and even though my family has been in the U.S. since the Revolution and before, all I could think was "I'm German, when will I turn into a monster?" It took much time and thought and growing up to get an answer to that. I had to watch the disintegration of Laos and Idi Amin, the starvation in Ethiopia and Manuel Noriega, the war between El Salvador and Honduras and the way we Americans approached Native Americans and now the illegal immigration problem before I came to an answer: original sin. Every single human being that has ever been born has the capacity, when put into the right circumstances, to become a monster who would follow a Hitler and obey his commands. Every single person, if they are hungry enough, hopeless enough, scared enough, threatened enough, cold enough, or angry enough, has the capacity to do horrible things out of selfishness and self preservation. Political ideology makes it even more dangerous. When you have a nutcase that believes you have to crack eggs to make an omelet and you have to kill people to make a revolution, it becomes even more likely that people are going to suffer. But there is also the capacity in every person to reach out to God in fear, or hunger, or cold, or oppression and find the strength to help another, to bring half of your last crust of bread to someone starving, to wrap your child's feet in rags and stuff them in an over-sized pair of your old shoes rather than kill someone else's child and take theirs.

    He was indeed Austrian. But he considers Austrians as Germans since they also speak the German language, that is why he united the two countries.

    From what i've been hearing, Hitler wasn't just Austrian, i heard his mother was jewish. I don't know if thats true though
