Unfortunately for me, I’m a dirty American, which makes this love affair complicated. I’m currently in Canada on a student visa. If I can get a job in my field within 3 months of graduation (currently: Creative Writing), I can stay. Is there another way? Marry a Canadian. So if you’ve got $10,000 to sponsor me and some sort of interest in having a sham marriage, by all means, let me know. But, really, if there IS any other way to get Canadian citizenship, I’d like to know… why do all these ways seem to involve assloads of money? Mar 25, 2005, 02:13PM PST 3 cheers Comments: kaffeine Ok, what we’ll do is sell your US passport for lots of cash. Then we’ll knock off a canadian of the correct age and gender, whose identity you will assume from now on. You get to hack the bodies up. Also, you look like Natalie Portman in that photo – sweet! This has been your moment of zen. Mar 25, 2005, 03:56PM PST | Respond to this fuddyq give it a couple years... Soon, the U.S. will become a facist state (well, it already is, just not recognized as such yet) and you should qualify on compassionate grounds. In all seriousness though, marry a Canadian. If you love the country, you already love the people – just find him. Apr 04, 2005, 09:50AM PDT | Respond to this ayb1 If you meet the requirements you can apply for canadian permanent residence. Check out www.cic.gc.ca BTW, the sponsorship application for residence verifies the integrity of your relationship including who from the sponsor’s family met you and when, photographs, etc. I just sponsored my wife as we are moving back to Canada, and it was very thick and very thorough. Good luck. May 30, 2005, 04:43AM PDT | Respond to this britgirltaylor Sorry to burst the bubble... But marrying a Canadian does not a Canadian citizen make you!!! I am married to a Canadian… no ... I didnt do it for the citizenship. I am still a british citizen – and have to go through all the same citizenship stuff as anyone else. I really need to do it, but just havent got around to it yet. It’s expensive ($200.00 I think) and I think I’m really avoiding it because I know there is a test involved. You would think that after being here as a contributing part of Canadian society (technically I AM CANADIAN)that I would be elligable to automatic citizenship. Aug 04, 2005, 09:42AM PDT | Respond to this shadowraver Canada makes me happy ... You can marry a canadian, so you can live in Canada, then eventually qualify for citizenship. The TEST is soooo easy. It just to test how you know Canada. If you bring good qualities, and believe in peace and freedom, then you are more than welcome to be a Canuck… Nov 07, 2005, 08:30PM PST | Thread | Respond to this dob2 hmm i was wondering if u have any information on how to arrange that kind of transaction. im rly interested in having my girl friend here in canada. please advice.. thanks Jul 02, 2007, 01:09PM PDT | Respond to this (This comment was deleted.) Apr 19, 03:03AM PDT ottovonbismarck socialism... the good and bad the reason it costs so much, is healthcare. since you foreigners steal it all the time, we need to find a way to pay for it. thats why. but that aside, join canada. we love american currency Jan 17, 2006, 11:46AM PST | Respond to this (This comment was deleted.) Sep 13, 10:02PM PDT (This comment was deleted.) Dec 28, 06:01PM PST coccolino I'm mad!! I’m just mad… why?! about the world and its stupid borders!!!I mean, just read this post by the girl who would like to marry canadian or an american just because that makes her go to the country she loves. I’m myself in similar situation. But not quite the same!i love a boy who is American and I’m Polish. To go and see him I need to have a visa or just marry him to be there legally with him. But getting married isn’t what we want right now, not yet anyway! So what makes me anry is that if it wasn’t for stupid rules, policies and stupid people who made those stupid rules I could just go there, get a job(like anywhere here in Europe) and just be happy next to my man and not even wondering about getting married! ughhhh that makes me so angry!! Why the hell, people can’t live wherever they want, to pick the country they want just because they were born in different countries or continents?!I think something should be done about things like that! I’m sure there are lots of people in the USA who (like me) would like to move to Europe to be next to those they love and the other way round! Why do people that govern countries make it all so difficult for people NOT to be happy?! Apr 12, 06:33AM PDT | Respond to this (This comment was deleted.) • Marry a Canadian.
  • There are no 'easy' ways. You can apply as a skilled worker, as a 'Business/Entrepreneur' applicant, as a family member of a Canadian citizen or as a provincial nominee. Check out this site: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp None of them are fast, though.
  • Try this link, and take the test (I've tried that myself) http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assess/index.asp
