I thought after 9/11/01, Americans would pull together and become what the elder Pres. Bush was seeking - "a kinder, gentler society." But the opposite seems to have happened. Why? People seem even more hostile and paranoid. Have the terrorists won?

I received a very long email, from an elderly gentleman, who retired from the Army 15 years ago, and he knows this high ranking official in the government, and his friend (the high ranking official)basically said, if we (Dems & Republicans) and anyone else, do not all pull together, we will be losing all of our freedoms, one at a time. This is a very serious issue, I just hope the American people all pull together, before it is to late. We cannot win a war, if we are all fighting among ourselves. Stick together, and we can NOT lose. Keep bickering among ourselves, over little things, and we will lose. In five years, France will be gone, as we know it. Spain has already lost the battle, when they were told to get out of Iraq, and they did, after their rail system was bombed. Lets Pray that we all pull together, and then we can start bickering again, AFTER we WIN the war. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Would've been nice to have a president at the time that could've brought us all together. And one that would've went after the right enemy as hard as he went after the wrong one.

People seem hostile and paranoid because they are angry and hurt with what has and is happening in our country. What on earth did the two Bushes do to make us "a kinder, gentler society"? Nothing, all they did was mess up the country and keep us being scared of everything. No the terrorist have not won, they will not win because we can pull ourselves together and become strong again.

Bush's approval rating after 9/11 was sky high. He was doing a lot to make America safe. As with all presidents, some of it worked some of it didn't. But Carville and another Democrat sent a memo to the head of the Democratic party saying that if they didn't do something to destroy Bush's approval rating, the Democrats would be out of office for a long time. The Liberal media helped and from then on, they criticized everything Bush did whether it was good or not. The Liberals did everything they could to create hostility and unrest. The terrorists have not won but with the Liberals in charge, they will.

No. The new "war on terror" (wot) was created for the purpose of manipulating (braiwashing) societies worldwide for profit and mind control. Fear tactics propaganda based on the Nazi program for mind control. The key mind control program underway is the Hegelian Dialectic method: PROBLEM-REACTION-SOLUTION. The international elite (bankers & big corporations) controls all 3 of them. The wot replaced the old "copld war" that lasted 50 years with the same agenda: mind control & fear tactics for societies, & profits for the big guys. My 2 cents.
