Well, the "how to" part has already been answered. Why won't Movie Maker read a MOV file? Because the MOV (movie) format is proprietary to Apple, even though QuickTime is available for Windows. Since the two are rivals, I can't imagine Microsoft's proprietary utility to read a competitors format.
Like why won't a Chevy starter work in a Ford? Two different companies, different cars.
