Because Christ made the statements and rules that seperate Jews from Gentiles then and now. Christ is God's new message - or so it goes - and Christ is part of God - or so it goes - so to call someoene a Christian basically means "You follow the teachings of Christ and recognize/accept/worship his concurrent godhood with Yahweh." Because without Christ Judeo-Christianity would only be Judeo and the Jews already have that one sewn up. In truth Catholicism and Chistianity are much more based on Paul than they are one either Jesus or God. Bliss
