Fruity Loops is actually one of the easiest, spend a little more time with it. There is also Propellarhead Reason, Cubase SE, Cakewalk. There are tons of software packages. Its easier to use this programs when you have a MIDI controller to connect to them. Allows you to physically control the software on a keyboard type module or another similar device.

i use fruityloops but i gotta tell you. if you're serious. get an mpc. just owning an mpc will make people like your beats more. that's the way it goes.
