I have no clue, what did he/she tell you, was his/her reason?

Im sorry for you Sweet T, I know there are meds out there so maybe you should find a new neurologist. There's no reason you should have to be in pain. Good luck to you.

Look for a hospital affiliated pain clinic, and ask him for a referral. It is common knowledge now that MS causes sometimes severe pain as the covering of your electrical wiring is wasting away leaving the internal electrical mechanism exposed. NEVER minimize your pain. Be as descriptive as you can and write it down to give to him. Bring a male friend or your father when you go. I've found that Doctors are more careful when there's a witness to not blow off your pain for fear of angering the male (and for not treating you-see the end of this why). Sad, but you want treatment. Ask your state AMA association or best hospital to recommend a pain/MS doctor. Doctors who are members of The American College of Physicians have been more open than I others have met. My doctor is head of my state's pain society so he's highly informed & lectures all over. I have all I need, and I never abuse it. P.S. If you are in the U.S., check if your state allows for medical marijuana. It is the best thing for spasticity and sleep. Look up medical studies (not someone's web page) for MS and cannabinoids. It's a great add-on treatment when you for pain or cramping. I have found I could drop an $800 sleep med and sleep better and more hours (critical for body repair in the stage 3 and 4 sleep by eating "properly prepared" marijuana). Every neurologist I've seen except one (and he messed me up severely acc to my other one) agrees that it helps a niche of patients when nothing else will. You don't have to smoke it, learn to cook it correctly and eat it. It takes UP to 2 1/2 hrs to work depending upon the food in your stomach. But for acute pain/ spasticity, inhalation is better (use a vaporizer for safety and maximum release of the over 400 compounds unlike Marinol which is only THC and VERY expensive and often intolerable side effects. If you can't afford it, a bong with ice water in it helps with the heat and particulates). And if you have poor quality stuff heating it with a fat improves absorption Demand your rights. He has a responsibility to treat your pain. Doctors can and have been successfully sued for not treating pain and suffering, as it's now considered to be the 5th "vital sign." If it's been this way for a long time and he never referred you to a pain clinic he could be liable. The body sends out chemical messengers when in pain that is important for survival, but if chronic, causes permanent changes in the brain and body. Seek new medical and consider legal help now.
