  • The Gimp is good but I somehow didn't get on with it. Still it is free and it is the best for pure editing. http://www.gimp.org Second I'd put Irfanview, however this program is now part of my standard package, meaning it gets installed on all my PCs, even before the anti virus, multi media codecs and other to me necessary programs. http://www.irfanview.com one of the main features I 'need' is you click on one image and when open you can browse all images/photos in the same folder (via the arrows) but it does tons more than this. then I love Picasa as it is *magic* for a ton of other stuff, especially organizing and together with irfanview and Photoshop I need nothing else. Of course Picasa is free: http://www.sleekbytes.com/picasa-google.htm then if you want to branch Picasa's photo sharing features, get 'Hello' and you have it all http://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/295
  • This is a real good one, that I have been using for years. It was put out by google, and it is free..Good Luck→ http://picasa.google.com/
  • The Gimp is the best free photoshop-like application available. http://www.gimp.org/ For something more simple, there's Paint.NET. It's much like MSPAINT but adds transparency, magic wand features, and layers! It also has a Photoshop-like color levels feature that lets you remove or add color. www.getpaint.net
  • If you have Windows Vista you can use the tools provided when you open a picture.
  • Gimp is a great idea. Gimpshop is even better, because it mimics the functions of Photoshop, with a similar design/look. GNU too, meaning 100% free and modifiable.
